Profile of Artist:

Suman Chitrakar is practicing Bengal Patachitra, Scroll Painting since 2004.

Suman after completing his graduation started painting at the age of twenty under the guidance of his Guru/mentor Jaydeb Chitrakar. He paints Bangla Pat, Santhal Pat, Kalighat Pat.

Suman paints diversified items like Saree, kurta, T-shirt, and other utility items.

In the year 2016 Suman had exhibited his series of paintings in Glasgow, Edinburgh and in London.

His artwork has been featured in two books.

1.Bono Bibi of the Sunderbans.

2.Life of Savitribai Phule published by Azim Premji University.

Suman Chitrakar along with his wife Rupasona is proud to revive this traditional patachitra art and always try to create new innovative items at Medinipur.
